Retreat Update

By Kathleen Barkley & Sue Magyar

Mark your calendars - the 2017 Kenai Peninsula Quilting Retreat is scheduled for Friday, February 17, ending Sunday, February 19, at Land’s End Resort in Homer.  The Retreat is limited to 60 participants.  Remember to fill out the 2017 Membership Form and the Retreat Registration Form found in this newsletter.  Mail your Membership Form and a check to Cathy Howlett and your Retreat Registration Form and a check to Sue Magyar (the deadline for turning in your retreat registration form and check is January 1).  Reminder - If you have any special dietary needs, you will have to make arrangements with the banquet staff prior to the retreat.  The addresses for both forms can be found at the bottom of each sheet.  You can make your reservations at Land’s End Resort by calling (907) 235-0400.

Dana Lewis has graciously volunteered to take the lead in coordinating another great Mystery Quilt for Retreat participants.  One hint, it will be a three color quilt this time (and the pattern also lends itself to “scrappy"). More on that subject in your Retreat Packet at the October 1st Guild meeting at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna.   And the Mystery deepens….

Barb Steckel will be demonstrating, “Free Motion Quilting Made Easy”, using a template.  Bring a 12” or 16” sandwich (2 pieces of fabric with batting in between).  Barb will be sharing this demo with any interested Guild members upstairs in the Quarterdeck Conference Room on Friday, February 17, at 2:00 p.m.

Diane Owens and Sandi Schiff did such a great job designing last year’s Retreat tee-shirt that we asked for their expertise again this year.  Thanks to both for agreeing to take on this project.

If you have any questions, please contact Sue Magyar at (907) 491-0244 or Kathleen Barkley at (907) 769-1999.  We look forward to seeing you at the Retreat in February 2017!
