Quadrangle Pattern

Quadrangle

12 inch

2 fabrics

Cutting:

Multicolor print: 5 squares @ 4 1/2". - 1 strip @ 4 1/2" x 14"

Cream print background: 1 strip 4 1/2" x 14"

This block calls for using Tri-Recs tools from EZ quilting. The angles are just too difficult without using templates or paper piecing techniques. Somehow my templates or foundation piecing drawings never seem to email accurately.

You will have about an inch left over from each strip after cutting.

From your multicolor print strip cut 4 pieces with the Tri tool using the 4 ½” line.

Fold your cream print background strip right sides together.

Cut 4 with the Recs tool also using the 4 ½” line.

You will have 8 Recs triangles—4 right and 4 left.

Piecing:

Lay out your Tri multicolor print and your Recs cream print as shown at right.  Sew one Recs to each side to the multicolor Tri piece.  Make Four. Be sure to use a scant quarter inch seam or your square will be too small.  This was the hard part.

Lay out your remaining 5 multicolor squares with these 4 pieced squares into a nine patch following the block diagram.  Sew into three rows, press toward the multicolor squares.

Sew the rows together.  Press toward the center.

Set together with sashing this makes a nice quilt.

Enjoy Grace
