I had the opportunity to enjoy a trunk show and demonstration by Gudrun Erla last year. After seeing her quilts and watching her demonstrations I was inspired. I have made two of her quilts now, and one is from this book. It is called Sand Dollar. It’s not yet quilted, but it is hanging on my design wall and I love it.
Most of the patterns in this book are pretty simple. I was able to use mostly precuts for both the quilts I made. That made them fast and convenient. Her instructions are very good and fabric requirements were accurate. She shows each quilt in at least two versions, one she calls traditional and the other modern. I like seeing them in two very different styles. There are also multiple size options for each pattern.
I’m liking her style and there is definitely another Gudrun Erla quilt in my future. I hope you take advantage of the chance to see her in Alaska later this summer. I find myself looking/wishing on a trip to Iceland with her as my guide… check out her website.
I do not find this book on her website, but Amazon has it for a very good price. Enjoy.
