Presidents Report

It’s that time of year again - transitions! From the sun (and rain) and warmth of summer to the briskness of the air and colors of fall. My husband has already pointed out the yellow on the alder across the road from our house! I love this time of year! I know many are still harvesting their gardens and storing some of the bounty for later. Fish are being caught and smoked, canned, or frozen, and some are preparing for the annual hunting trip.

It’s also the time when some of life’s busyness slows and we can more comfortably get back into our sewing. I’ve heard great things about two of our guild sponsored classes this summer and remind you there is another class coming up soon. Look at the education report for more details!

I do hope many of you were able to go on the Quilt Walk in the Soldotna area and to the Quilt and Wearable Arts Show in Nikiski. If you weren’t able to go this year, put a note in the reminders section of your phone so you don’t miss them next year! The workmanship and creativity displayed at both were amazing. I was excited to see the Nikiski show and hope they will be able to make it an annual event. One of the things I like most about quilt shows is that you can get up close to the quilt and actually see the intricate work that quilters do. These shows did not disappoint!!

It’s time also to renew your guild membership and sign up for the retreat in February. Forms to do both are included in this newsletter.

Remember too that our General Membership Meeting will be held on October 4th in Soldotna. See you there!
