What a summer it has been! Our Homer group enjoyed sunny days, guests, gardening, and traveling; and more sunny days, guests, gardening, and traveling. For the most part, our numbers have grown this summer as people stay in town to fish; host family and friends; and then pop into the Thursday quilting group to chat and sew. It's cheap therapy!
Events:
*A photojournalist crew from Quiltfolk magazine joined us on a Thursday in June to take pictures, and to hear our quilt stories. We enjoyed the couple who came very much and look forward to seeing the December Quiltfolk issue about Alaska when it comes out.
*The quilt show at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center in July was fabulous! We enjoyed seeing the array of quilts created by quilters on the Kenai peninsula, including several from Homer. We also enjoyed the trunk show by Dana Michelle, displaying her new Japanese-themed designs. Dana also answered questions and gave tips on how to put together her applique kits.
